Franklin Park Conservatory Agreement Not Adopted as Commissioners Seek More Detail

Board of Commissioners, Franklin County, Ohio · October 12, 2026. Full, unedited recording published by the local government.

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners did not adopt a second amended and restated Franklin Park Conservatory Joint Recreation District agreement with the City of Columbus at its October 6, 2026 General Session. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Eli Redfern outlined the proposed changes, including a term extension to 2076, a 25-seat district board, and a smaller annual city contribution. Commissioners asked why the board would expand and raised community questions about fencing. The resolution failed 1-2.

Our Mission

Community is what binds us together as a people.

1

To give everyone access to every local town and city government proceeding across the country, and to other local forums where local public policy is discussed, debated and decided — all without editing, commentary or analysis, and with a balanced presentation of points of view.

2

To provide elected and appointed officials at every level of government, and others who would influence public policy, a direct conduit to the audience without filtering or otherwise distorting their points of view.

We build interest in local participation, promote civic duty by holding up those already serving as role models, and foster the notion that we are all members of a community — our own local, our state and our country.
