Commissioner John O'Grady announces ALDI store coming to Downtown Columbus

Board of Commissioners, Franklin County, Ohio · August 21, 2026. Full, unedited recording published by the local government.

Commissioner John O’Grady visited Columbus State on August 18, 2026, to speak about the new ALDI market coming to Downtown Columbus. The new ALDI store, located at the northwest corner of Cleveland Avenue and Spring Street, is expected to open in 2028. Franklin County is planning to commit $900,000 for the predevelopment, utility, and infrastructure work required for the project. When the store opens, people living in or near Downtown Columbus, which has historically been a food desert, will have a new option for fresh food and groceries.

Our Mission

Community is what binds us together as a people.

1

To give everyone access to every local town and city government proceeding across the country, and to other local forums where local public policy is discussed, debated and decided — all without editing, commentary or analysis, and with a balanced presentation of points of view.

2

To provide elected and appointed officials at every level of government, and others who would influence public policy, a direct conduit to the audience without filtering or otherwise distorting their points of view.

We build interest in local participation, promote civic duty by holding up those already serving as role models, and foster the notion that we are all members of a community — our own local, our state and our country.
